ARB 03/2011/07 Dated: 09.11. 2011
Time of issue: 1100 hours IST
Sub: Deep Depression over westcentral Arabian Sea.
The deep depression over westcentral Arabian Sea moved north-northwestwards
and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 9th November 2011 over westcentral Arabian
Sea near latitude 15.00N and longitude 58.50E, about 1800 km west-northwest of
Mangalore (Karnataka), 550 km northeast of Socotra Island (Yemen) and 500 km
east-southeast of Salalah (Oman). The system is likely to move north-northwestwards
initially and then westwards towards Gulf of Aden during next 48 hrs and weaken gradually
due to colder sea and interaction with land surface.
Based on latest analysis with NWP models and other conventional techniques, estimated track and intensity of the system are given in the Table below:
Date/Time(IST) | Position (lat. 0N/ long. 0E) | Sustained maximum surface wind speed (kmph) | Categoty |
09-11-2011/0830 | 15.0/58.5 | 55-65 gusting to 75 | Deep Depression |
09-11-2011/1130 | 15.5/58.5 | 55-65 gusting to 75 | Deep Depression |
09-11-2011/1730 | 16.0/58.3 | 50-60 gusting to 70 | Deep Depression |
09-11-2011/2330 | 16.5/58.0 | 45-55 gusting to 65 | Depression |
10-11-2011/0530 | 16.5/57.5 | 45-55 gusting to 65 | Depression |
10-11-2011/1730 | 16.5/56.0 | 40-50 gusting to 60 | Depression |
11-11-2011/0530 | 16.5/55.5 | 30-40 gusting to 50 | Low pressure area |
As the deep depression is expected to move west-northwestwards away from
west coast of India, no adverse weather will occur along and off west coast of India under
the influence of this system.
